Film Streams opens in Omaha

This weekend Film Streams, Omaha's non profit cinema, opened at the Ruth Sokolof Theater in downtown Omaha. It is part of the ongoing renaissance of downtown. Such a theater is long overdue in the Omaha area. There is definitely a market for foreign, independent, and classic films in the Omaha area. http://www.filmstreams.org/filmstreams_home.html
Today I saw Kurosawa's classic Seven Samurai. This is the first time I have seen it and it is fantastic film. It is the story of peasants being terrorized by bandits and they hire samurai for defence. The movie reminded me of a western. In fact it was remade in America as The Magnificent Seven. Which is another movie I have not had the opportunity to see. My brother in law has the DVD and I should borrow it.
